Healthy Addictions (Audio/Video)

My taste in Music

I’m a 70’s junky. Grew up in that era and gulped the good, bad and ugly about it. The 80’s was the falling phase of that great music, then the 90’s was the void with no identity. Will have a dedicated post for this as it’s worth it. Heads up: Gods in my book include Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Donna Summer among others.

YouTube Songs

Up until the late 70’s, music videos didn’t have a strong purpose. Then, almost all of a sudden in early 80’s, MTV happened, the greatest music video of all time happened (Michael Jackson’s 14-minute short film Thriller) and Video Killed The Radio Star!
Over some years, MTV lost the identity that created it in the first place – that’s what I think! For the next milestone, you gotta fast forward to 2006, when Google bought YouTube making it the new platform for everything “video”, including music videos.
In the past couple of years I loved the following music videos. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did/do.

My taste in Movies

I’m a Sci-Fi and action junky. Will have a dedicated post later. Some movies in my list:

YouTube Channels

For a decade so far, I’ve had a very long commute to work (over 90 minutes each way in regular traffic). You name it, I tried it, to reduce the burden of the daily trip on the infamous Interstate 405 Highway, nada worked!
Faith (don’t believe in it), or wisdom (don’t have it) made me download lengthy YouTube videos with mainly verbal and little visual content on my phone (Android, yup, sorry iPhoners, but will never be one!) and played it via Bluetooth in my car’s audio system during my long commute!
What a life changer that was!
It was the equivalent of reading tons of books (the last time I read with no guilt of burning time was in mid-school).
Not only did that allow me to drive on human auto-pilot mode with ease despite traffic, it really gave me great entertainment, tremendous learning and a seriously deeper and better understanding of life.
